Abstract

In our days, e-learning is becoming a very prominent field that supports the improvement of both synchronous and asynchronous learning. The impressive development of the Information and Communication Technologies has offered to tertiary education the necessary infrastructure that permits academic institutions to fulfill  the increasing requirements for academic electronic services. The most widely spread tools of asynchronous e-learning are considered to be the course management systems, web-based platforms that offer to instructors an easy to use environment in order to administrate and deliver educational content for their courses, but which can also be used for communication needs between instructors and students.

The Department of Informatics of the TEI of Athens has adopted and runs the last three years an asynchronous e-learning platform named cs e-Class. In this article, we present our experience from the use of the cs e-Class and the success of its adaptation to the educational and administrative needs of our Department. We also present the results of a survey we have administered to our students for course quality measurement purposes and for measuring their satisfaction from the use of this platform.
