THE FACTOR "SAFETY" IN PORTS OPERATION

Abstract

The “safety” factor plays an important role in port operation. The term safety has two means, the safety of work and the security from illegal actions.  The term “safety” also includes the protection from the natural phenomena. Each port needs to develop working practices that will safeguard the safety and health of port workers in the light of its own specific circumstances and to establish general principles set out in the relevant International Labour Organization (ILO), Conventions and Recommendations, other codes of practice and guidelines.
